Hyeonjin Chung

Hyeonjin Chung received his B.S. degree, M.S. degree, and Ph.D. degree in Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2018, 2020, and 2024 from the Department of Electronic Engineering. He was awarded the Best Dissertation Prize from Hanyang University in 2024.

He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Wireless Information and Network Sciences Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA. His research interests include mmWave/THz communications, extremely large MIMO systems, intelligent surfaces, 5G/6G standards, and integrated sensing and communication (ISAC).

Dr. Chung was awarded the Global Ph.D Fellowship (From 2019 to 2024) and the Sejong Science Fellowship (From 2024 to 2025) from the Ministry of Science and ICT, South Korea. In 2021, he was awarded the Bronze prize in the IEEE Seoul Section Student Paper Contest. In 2023, he was awarded the Samsung 31st HumanTech Paper Award. In 2024, families of his patents on NR Sidelink communications were sold and transferred to Hyundai Motor Company and KIA Corporation (US11818078, US11804930, US11616629, US11689342, US11424895).
